Temporary Positions
Temporary nannies and maternity nurses are self employed. They will organise their own tax and NI contributions. Temporary nannies and maternity nurses usually work 5 or 6 days a week. Maternity nurses and proxy parents are on duty 24 hours a day and will rest when the children in their care are sleeping. In the event of a baby being overdue, half the standard rate of pay per day would be charged as a retainer by the maternity nurse increasing to the full rate after the baby’s arrival.
