Probationer Nannies
After successfully completing their two year training course at Norland College, students undertake a year long probationary post as a nanny. On successful completion of the probationary year and with a satisfactory report from their employer, students officially graduate with the Norland Diploma.
Points to note about employing a probationer nanny:
- The probationary post is the first time the students have worked full time as a professional nanny. While they are qualified nursery nurses they do require additional support throughout the 12 months.
- The Agency keeps in touch with the employer on a regular basis by telephone or email to discuss the probationer’s progress. We also keep regular contact with the probationer and make one visit to them, in post.
- Appraisal forms are sent by the Agency to the employer for completion at 1, 4, 8 and 12 months. These are an opportunity for the employer to talk to the probationer about their progress. Positive comments as well as any areas for development are noted together with an action plan.
